Are you feeling lazy this morning, but still would like to have a perfect cup of coffee?!

Excellent! Then keep on reading, because today we are going to discuss how to make a perfect cup of freshly brewed coffee in an easy 7 steps and under 5 minutes.

We are talking about using French Press to make your morning cup of Joe.

It is not flashy; it does not involve any cutting-edge technology or any expensive coffee makers.

And more importantly, it is the easiest way to make a perfect cup of coffee for a beginner or someone feeling lazy like we have mentioned above.

There are some minor variations as to making a French Press coffee, we will concentrate on the basics, and then you can experiment and adjust the process to your liking.

Everything You Will Need to Make a French Press Coffee

Number one on the list, of course, is French Press, coffee maker. There are a number of them available. As always for your convenience, we will have links in the post for you to check some out.
Next on the list are your favorite coffee beans.

Last but not least, sugar and possibly milk, if you like your coffee with it.

Step by Step Process to Make it Perfect

Put your favorite coffee beans in the grinder and “start the engine”. Start grinding. Important tip! Make sure your grind your coffee beans coarse.

This step is completely optional, but some people love to preheat their French Press by pouring hot water in it, waiting a few minutes, and throwing the water out.
Add the ground coffee to the French Press, depending on the size of your French Press and how many cups you are planning to serve. The good measure is about 2 full teaspoons per cup. Of course, as with the sugar and milk, the amount can vary, depending on how robust you would like your cup to be.
The next step is adding water. For the best results, the temperature of the water should be around 200 degrees. If you have one of those latest electric “smart” kettles, some of them come with a preset button for “French Press”. This particular step could be split into 2, and here is what we mean.You can add half of the water you are planning to use first, pouring it slowly, wait a minute or so and you will see that the coffee grind will float up to the top.
At this point, take a plastic spoon or chopstick to break the float and stir your coffee. Using a plastic spoon or chopstick will reduce the chances of you breaking the glass cylinder of the French Press.

OR

Like we mentioned before, you can skip this step and simply add all the water to your French Press. Most coffee brewing takes some time, so, please make sure you pour in the water slowly.

After you have stirred the coffee that floated on the top, put the lid with a plunger on the top of your coffee brew, so it touches your mix. This way you will keep it nice and hot.
That is probably the best step, because for the next 3-4 minutes (do not hold it more than that) you have a chance to smell, breathe in and enjoy the entire beautiful coffee aroma.
The final Step is “taking a plunge”. Slowly, but firmly push the plunger down till it reaches the bottom. You are done and ready to serve! Enjoy!

3 Easy Steps to Make Vietnamese Coffee

In today’s post we will discuss another coffee concoction, called Vietnamese coffee.

We will talk about the hot beverage that includes milk, but the same coffee can be prepared as black with sugar or with milk but poured into the tall glass filled with ice.

Having said that, let’s get brewing!

Ingredients needed for Vietnamese Coffee

Vietnamese Coffee
Condensed Milk
Vietnamese Coffee Filter or Phin (pronounced “feen”), that consists of 4 parts:
Plate
Brewing chamber
Filter Press
Lid

Brewing the Vietnamese Coffee-Step by Step

First step would be putting about 2 full teaspoons (apprx.0.5 ounce) of condensed milk in your serving cup/glass.
Next, put the plate of a Phin on the top of your serving cup/glass and then place the brewing chamber on the top of it.
Put about 3-4 measuring coffee cups or teaspoons of freshly and fine ground dark roast coffee in the brewing chamber. Make sure that coffee is evenly spread in the chamber.
Drop in the Filter press, do not press it in. Now you are ready.
Pour in about an ounce of hot water and let it sit for around a minute. If you have one of those smart kettles, warm the water to the temperature of the French Press setting (about 200 degrees), if not, let the water boil and then simply wait a few minutes.
After a minute, slowly pour in the rest of the water, which should be somewhere, about 5 ounces roughly, cover it with a lid and wait.

Shortly you will see how the brew starts dripping from the brewing chamber and through the plate. Your fresh brewed Vietnamese coffee should be done in about 5 minutes.

Final Thoughts on Brewing Vietnamese Coffee

As we mentioned before, you can simply stir it in the cup and drink it hot, you can drink it without the milk, straight up black or you can pour it over ice.

Keep in mind, that once you pour it over ice your coffee will get diluted and not going to be that robust.

You can experiment with the amounts of condensed milk and coffee to find the taste and sweetness just the way you like it.

But then during a hot summer days it will make a nice and refreshing coffee treat!

Dalgona coffee is a hot new trend that you’ve been seeing all over the internet and today we are going to guide you through how to make not one but two flavors.

It is easy and enjoyable.

Let’s start with the classic Dalgona coffee, which like we mentioned before you’ve been seeing all over nowadays. It is a simple, whipped coffee drink using only three ingredients paired with your milk and tastes, almost like coffee ice cream, a treat, that is truly hard to beat!

The best part is, it is quite simple.

Ingredients and Process of Making Dalgona Coffee

We are going to start with two packages of instant coffee. If you have an instant coffee in a jar (not packets), it would be equivalent to one and a half tablespoons of freeze-dried instant coffee.

Let’s add that to a mixing bowl along with the sugar. Next, add two teaspoons of sugar and finally another one and a half tablespoons of hot water.

At this point, you can choose to whisk it up with this manual whisk, which will take a lot of arm strength and takes more time, so to save time and soreness of the arm, you would be much better off using an electric mixer to get the job done in about a minute.

Once your instant coffee dissolves, mix it up and let it get nice and frothy for about a minute. You’ll see the coffee transform into this foam. The crema that you get from a typical shot of espresso binds with the sugar to stabilize. Then you get this nice frothy foam Dalgona.

A fair question would be, how would you know when to stop?

It would be when the consistency is very similar to a meringue, that you would whip up or egg whites. By now it should have a nice pale golden brown color, a little bitter, but it’ll mix beautifully with milk.

Fill up your serving cup or glass three-quarters of the way with milk, using your favorite one.

Now take a spoon or ice cream scoop and add a few ones on the top of the milk. The foam will just flow on top of our milk and create that gorgeous coffee cloud. Mix the foam in with the melt and it’ll deflate a little bit on top, but that’s not a big problem at all.

It might look even more attractive spilled over.

Few side notes.

You can always adjust the amount of sugar to your taste to reduce the intensity of the coffee.

During the hot summer months, you can add some ice to your milk and it will most likely remind you of a coffee ice cream.

Last but not least, this is not a high caffeinated drink, but more like a coffee-flavored dessert.

Matcha Cream Dalgona Version

Next, up let’s take a look at a Matcha cream Dalgona version.

For this one, you will need a little bit of whipped cream to help the Matcha foam up.

The difference is coffee has that stabilizing agent or the crema after it’s been roasted, so when it’s mixed up with sugar, it stabilizes and whips up into that beautiful foam.

Matcha on the other hand is just a tea powder and it doesn’t have that. The first step is whipping up our cream, heavy cream.

Add a quarter cup of heavy cream along with two teaspoons of sugar and half teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixing bowl.

Grab an electric mixer and start whipping it up until it gets nice and frothy.

Once you get that meringue consistency, you can add your Matcha. You do not want to add it in the beginning, because the froth is not going to have that brilliant, lively green color.

Next, add two teaspoons of matcha powder. There are several grades of matcha available on the market.The one that is being used in this particular one is an all-purpose one (the link is in the body of the post). If you would want to use a ceremonial grade (the extra fancy one) just reduce it to one teaspoon.

Now back to mixing till it reaches the consistency of original Dalgona coffee.

Be careful and make sure you don’t make butter out of your mix!

After all, you are working with heavy cream. It should be soft and fluffy.

Next up fill the cup or glass with the milk of your choice to three quarters, take a spoon or ice cream scoop, and put your matcha on the top.

Today we are going to talk about another delicious variation of coffee brews, called Cuban Coffee. Like with the Turkish coffee, that we have discussed in the previous article, let’s get everything you need to brew a Cuban Coffee before we start the process.

Everything You Will Need to Make a Classic Cuban Coffee

The first item on our list will be a classic or traditional Cuban Coffee maker.
Next up is Cuban or Espresso Coffee. Most Cubans prefer Café La Llave, there is also Cafe La Caretta. Interesting side note, if you happen to be in Miami there is an authentic Cuban restaurant with the same name LaCaretta.
Third item that you will need is a measuring cup that everyone has in their kitchen but if for some strange reason you don’t here is the link for it.
Last but not least, is, of course, sugar!

Now that we are all set with everything we will need, let’s get cooking!

Step by Step Process to Make it Perfect

Take a measuring cup and put in 3 generous spoons of sugar in it. Like we previously discussed in Turkish coffee, the amount of sugar depends solely on your taste, generally it is 1-1,5 spoons per cup.
Now we’ll need to put some water in the base of the coffee maker. It is extremely important that your water level does not go over the safety valve located in the base of the coffee maker.
Next we are going to pack the coffee funnel located in the base as well with the coffee of our choice. Important note. You don’t want to pack it really hard but you don’t want to be loose either, because in a latter case your coffee is going to be very watery.
At this point we are done with coffee maker; we screw the top to the bottom and put it on the hot stove. It is important to leave the top cover slightly open, so you can see the first drips of coffee coming out, you don’t want to miss that. Why? We’ll cover that shortly.
Here comes the fun part! As soon as you see the first coffee liquid geyser up, take the coffee maker off the stove and add that liquid to the sugar in your measured cup. Now start mixing it with sugar, if it’s too thick, add a little more coffee. You are going to have to mix it up till you get a consistent, creamy, whipped delicious coffee paste.
Once the whipped paste is ready, we are pretty much done. Now slowly pour the rest of the coffee into the measuring cup, observing how that delicious paste forms beautiful coffee foam on the top of your measuring cup.

Last step! Serve!

Let’s talk about one of our favorite coffees, which is a Turkish one and how would you go about making it. Turkish coffee goes by various names depending on the region, it’s been called Armenian, Greek, Arabic and probably some other names as well. Many people who enjoy this hot delicious coffee treat have their own way and style of making it, which in turn will produce different results, but the “right way” to to brew Turkish coffee, is the way YOU like it the most. First of all let’s list things that you will need to get it done.

Everything You Will Need to Make Your Turkish Coffee

Number one on the list is a Turkish Coffee Pot, called Ibrik or Cezve which is pretty much the same pot, just different names.
Keep in mind that the best results will be produced by the one made of copper, but if you find the copper one a bit pricey , get a stainless steel or some other metal.

Second on the list, you guessed it right – coffee! It is extremely important to mention two things about coffee. It has to be Medium Roast and finely grinded, ultra fine to the powder consistency, otherwise your coffee will not come out the way it supposed to be. You can either get it on Amazon or grind it yourself.
Number three would be sugar, which is completely optional, but if you would be using sugar, keep in mind as a reference, if you want your Turkish Coffee less sweet, you will add 1 teaspoon of sugar, medium 2 teaspoons and extra sweet 3 teaspoons.

Now that all ingredients are ready, let’s get cooking!

Step by Step Process to Make it Perfect

Step number one is putting a heaped teaspoon of coffee per each cup you are planning to serve. If you prefer a stronger cup of coffee, you can put two.
Next is sugar that we just mentioned above, depending on the sweetness level you and your guests prefer.

The following step has different variations, some people shake coffee and sugar in the Ibrik and then add water without stirring and put it on the low heat, the other group of people adds water, stir and then put it on the low heat. You will have to find out for yourself what works best for you., but never stir coffee once you put it on the heat.

Water has to be measured rather precisely, in other words you pour in water measured in how many cups you are serving. Turkish coffee originally had been prepared in hot sand, so by putting it on a low heat you are committing to patience; the process cannot be rushed!

After a while you will see, that a coffee will create a foam, that is called crema and it will start slowly coming up in your Ibrik/Cezve. At this point you are supposed to take that crema and distribute it evenly between the people you are serving and put the Ibrik back on the slow heat. Once coffee starts rising again, you can take it off and SLOWLY pour in the cups, this way your foam/crema will rise to the top and it will look beautiful.

There is an opinion that you can make your coffee rise a few times without boiling and then do the same thing that we just described in the paragraph above.

Final Thoughts on Making a Perfect Turkish Coffee

NEVER let the Turkish coffee boil, you will get a bitter cup of coffee and NEVER stir it in the cup. Just wait a few moments till the coffee parts go down.

Turkish coffee is best served with a glass of water. The purpose for that is to clean a pallet before taking your first sip. This will allow you to really enjoy the rich flavor of the coffee!
